There's nothing better than sitting outside in the sun (maybe by the pool or body of water) with a great summer read!
With July upon us, we are now halfway through 2019- it's so hard to believe!
Around this time of year I like to reflect upon my intentions that I set at the beginning of the year. It's nice to take an inventory of where I am, and possibly re-organize myself to make the second half of the year just as amazing as the first half!
Take some time this summer to relax and also re-focus on how you want the rest of the year to go. What do you hope to achieve that has been put to the side? Perhaps you're finding that you wanted this year to be more balanced but you're once again saying "yes" to everything that comes your way. No need to spend energy being upset with yourself, but instead recognize it and move forward with setting the healthy boundaries you deserve.
I don't like the category of "self-help" because it seems so cheesy, but these books are all along the lines of empowerment and self-help. They all changed my life in one way or another, and I hope they bring inspiration to your life as well!

I could probably write at least 5 blog posts about how much this book impacted me, but I'll keep it short (you're welcome).
It's not often I find a book that changes the way I view my religion, my inner self, and all of my relationships, but this book did it. It's been years since I've read it but I still think of it often. Glennon Doyle's memoir is not one out to gain pity or comparison, but one of such authentic realness that I felt as if, through her book, she could see me and I could see her. The book follows her journey to attempting to heal herself and her crumbling marriage. It's a story that will leave you in tears but it's also so empowering it'll make you believe you can do anything (spoiler alert: you can).
This book allowed me to find peace with parts of myself I thought I never could.

I mean, the title kind of speaks for itself, right?! This book is going to get you so excited by your own potential you may just go do something about it!
I find a lot of self-help books to be very superficial and I end up wondering how they even got published in the first place. Jen Sincero went through her own journey from skepticism of the "woo woo" world of meditation and manifesting to a complete convert. She's witty and funny, and will also hold a mirror up to the areas of your life that may be lacking that badassery you're so capable of fulfilling.
She will help you identify negative belief systems that may be holding you back, then empowers you to overcome these negative belief systems to live the life you are meant to.

Hal Elrod has quite the story: He was declared dead for over 6 minutes when he was 20 years old after a horrific car accident. After recovering, he went on to become an ultra-marathon runner, public speaker, author, and hall of fame business achiever- all before the age of 30.
The Morning Miracle is a system he created that essentially establishes a morning routine to get your day started from a place of peace and focus (you also don't have to do it in the morning, but I find that's most effective). I read this book about 4 months ago and I still do the Morning Miracle routine every morning because it gets my mind, my body, and my spirit in alignment with my goals. I no longer find myself staring at my computer screen first thing in the morning completely stressed before the day even begins.
This book is a very quick read, which is nice because that's more time for you to get started with this life-changing routine.

Brene Brown is just incredible. Also, go watch her recently released Netflix special if you haven't already!
Brene is a PhD Social Worker and researcher in shame, empathy, and vulnerability. She may find data fascinating, but she also presents it in a digestible way.
