Follicular Phase Grocery Haul

Picture
Women's bodies are incredible, aren't they?! The four phases of our cycle are unique and provide us with so much insight into what the body is experiencing.

Let's explore the nutritional needs of the follicular phase today by taking a peak into my grocery haul from the market!

To gain more insight into the follicular phase, check out my overview post here.
The follicular occurs after the menstrual phase and lasts about 7-10 days. During this phase, estrogen and progesterone levels are starting to increase so we're feeling energetic and we're craving movement!
Tasks that take lots of brain power seem effortless during this phase, so get creative, brainstorm, and start a new project.

I'm currently in my follicular phase and I feel like I can't sit still. It's such a blessing to know the reason behind WHY I'm feeling a certain way during the month. Instead of feeling like I'm losing control or anxious, I know my body is recovering from my menstrual phase and is ready to rock and roll!
In order to support our increased hormone levels & more high impact movements, we want to keep foods light, bright & supportive
Fresh foods and organic foods are best, as chemicals found in processed or non-organic foods can cause hormone imbalances. If fresh and organic foods aren't available to you, get creative and do your best! None of us are perfect, and this journey is about honoring what your body needs- something only you know best.

I'm fortunate enough to have an incredible year-round farmer's market close so that's where I got most of my groceries for today's haul. Today I picked up some green lentils, organic chicken, romaine lettuce, fresh eggs, broccoli, sourkraut, and cashews.
I'm excited to play around in the kitchen to give my body exactly what it needs.
Foods that support our follicular phase include:
lentils
eggs
poultry
beef
salmon
leafy greens like spinach & romaine lettuce
broccoli
sourkraut
kimchi
cashews
citrus fruits
grapes
bell peppers
avocado
root vegetables

Take advantage of feeling bolder and more energetic during this cycle- your body will thank you for it!

Stay tuned for recipes to support your cycles, and more grocery hauls to  help you make this journey as simple as possible!
